International Day of Friendship: Eternity Roses As Symbols of Friendship

The International Day of Friendship is fast approaching, on Thursday July 30th. 2020 has been a testing time for people the world over, with global events like the coronavirus pandemic creating distance between people, but more importantly, also acting as powerful catalysts to bring people together.

Now is the perfect time to celebrate the International Day of Friendship. The aim of the event, according to the United Nations, is to ‘confront those crises and challenges...by promoting and defending a shared spirit of human solidarity that takes many forms — the simplest of which is friendship’.

Through friendship between countries, cultures and individuals, we can make a difference at every level and show our friends and loved ones how much we appreciate them.

The Gift of Eternity Roses

Why not express your own friendship with someone special in your life through the gift of eternity roses? Flowers are a traditional gift, and the way our eternity roses are specially prepared means that they can be enjoyed for many months, or even years to come.

They are available in 8 colours and several styles and sizes, so we have something to suit whichever friend you’ll be thinking of this Day of Friendship! Eternity Roses are a perfect gift to make parents, partners, and of course, friends feel special and valued.

They’re created by cutting fresh roses when they are at their most beautiful. Instead of leaving them to dry, they are placed in a mixture made from glycerine and other plant elements. This liquid gradually rises through the stem until it completely replaces the sap. The final result is a flexible flower with a natural appearance. The preservative keeps working for months, or even years! A perfect, long-lasting reminder of your friendship with someone close to you.

The History of the International Day of Friendship

The idea of a World Friendship Day was first proposed in 1958 during a dinner between some friends in a town in Paraguay.

Out of this original meeting, the ‘World Friendship Crusade’ was born: a foundation that promotes friendship among all people, regardless of race, colour or religion. Since then, July 30th has been celebrated as Friendship Day in Paraguay was gradually adopted internationally, and is now recognised by the UN as the International Day of Friendship.

We’d like to wish all of our customers and your friends a happy Friendship Day. Why not explore our range of Eternity Roses and find the perfect gift to celebrate your friendship?
